Dear Fellow Librarians, Please help. Our school is thinking about using Reading Counts. Hurst is a middle school with about 500 seventh and eighth graders. I am doing some of the preliminary work. I would love to hear about your experiences. I am open to any start up hints. How much money will I really need to start up? I need to emphasis the reading not the incentives. Have test scores gone up? Should I start with a few classes and then expand or start school wide the first year? I would also like to correspond via e-mail or phone with a middle school librarian who is up and running and likes the program. I really need a mentor.
