Re: Reading Promotion by Restaurant

Our local teachers' union has a similar project. We provide a book for
every baby born in town during the year. These are delivered by the public
health nurse, along with pamphlets on the importance of reading, on her
first visit to the home. We supply additional copies to every "waiting
place" in town - doctors' and dentists' offices, bus depot, social welfare
office, etc. as well as the public library and school libraries. We had not
thought of restaurants, but now that I am in charge of the project (Public
Relations Committee), we could do this too. The book is selected each year
by the elementary librarians and we get a very good price on the 200 copies
we need for this project.
