Olympic Aid is a humanitarian organisation that has grown out of the
original Olympic ideals of peace, human dignity and the promotion of human
excellence. It is an athlete-driven initiative that aims to raise funds for
disadvantaged children within Australia and refugee children around the
world. As well, it seeks to raise awareness about children in need in the
hope that these children, like Olympians, may come to achieve their dreams.

Every child has the right to play. With your support, Olympic Aid hopes to
make this right a reality.

Olympic Aid began in 1994 at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics. Speed skater
Johann Olav Koss, who won three gold medals at these Games, challenged his
fellow Norwegians to donate a small amount of money every time a Norwegian
athlete won a medal. By the end of the Games the campaign had raised US$18
million for those affected by the war in the former Olympic host city of
Saravejo and elsewhere around the world.

At the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, Johann Olav Koss led the Olympic Aid
campaign and, with the help of athletes including Michael Jordan, Andre
Agassi, Michael Johnson and Nadia Commaneci, raised US$13 million for
children affected by conflict.

In 2000, it is Australia's turn to rise to the aid of disadvantaged
children worldwide during the Olympic Games in Sydney.
