THANKS for all the great input! I am really enjoying this list. I have learned a lot in the few days I have belonged! I do understand that the maturity level and the reading level are 2 different things. It saddens me to think that I have a wonderful book here, (still refering to "Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret", and no one is reading it. My students that read at a 3.6 level say it's too long. They can't comprehend enough of the book to get through it. And I am still baffled as to why a book can be a 7.4 one year, and the next year drop to a 4.7! That's a huge difference. If it was helpful to the upper reader last year, it is no longer helpful to that reading range? Our teacher's here rely on the level of the book a lot, that's what AR is suppose to be about, right? I wonder if there is a way of supporting that without putting so much emphasis on it? Does that make sense??
