Re: thank you, school librarian's day

Sometimes it pays to advertise, and a little self-promotion doesn't hurt
either.
I put a notice in the student and faculty announcements on Tue and Wed that
in honor of School Librarian's Day there would be a one-day only "Free
Library Return Day". I also made signs for the library bulletin board for
School Library Media Month and used ALA's @ the library promotional
material. I included some of the wonderful quotes about books and reading
that were posted on the listserv the other day.  My adult aide, without me
knowing, made sure the front office knew Wed. was School Librarian's Day. As
a result of all this advertising, I got a vase with two roses from my aide,
a beautiful big fern for the library from the administration, and many
overdue books returned. I also received a new desk organizer from the
Renaissance program. During the announcements for advisory period the
Vice-principal reminded the students that it was a free return day and to be
sure to thank the librarian for all that she does, etc. I was sung to and
wished a "Happy School Librarian's Day" by students and staff. I had classes
in the library doing research, etc all day which made for a very busy and
fun day.
In fact I was so busy yesterday I never got a chance to read or send e-mail.
So, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of a belated HAPPY
SCHOOL LIBRARIAN'S DAY!!  Hope everyone had a wonderful day.
