Target ELEM: Inventors Collaboration?

Hello everyone!

I just had a 4th grade teacher come to me about collaborating with her on
an inventors unit she wants to do. Her approach (right now) is to have the
kids research inventors/inventions/simple machines, and then to take what
they learn (including if possible how an inventor thinks) and finalize the
unit by building something.

Any ideas as to how I can collaborate with her? Assist her? I know how to
help with research, but have you done something similar that you can pass
along?
