Information about applying for this position is available at: http://www.umich.edu/~jobs/ Job Title: Computer Systems Consultant II/III: Instructional Technology Specialist DUTIES: Lead the development of web-based, multi-media training courses for K-12 educators with specific emphasis on the use of the Internet in the educational setting. Revise existing materials and develop new materials to deliver an interactive, educationally sound online learning experience incorporating audio, video, and self-testing components. Collaborate with internal and external project representatives in the development of new content as it relates to other Michigan educational initiatives. Conduct outreach activities related to implementation of this program. Develop and deliver instructional training courses for K-12 trainers and educators on technology integration in the curriculum. Deliver training sessions, presentations, or seminars on topics relevant to technology use in K-12 education including Internet skills (using a web browser, conducting research, etc.), online educational resources, integrating technology into the curriculum. Contribute to development of Merit Web pages relative to project and group activities. Assist in research and compilation of an online collection of educational resources, activities, and examples of “best practices” of technology use in the classroom. Assist in development and writing of proposals in response to state, federal, and foundation grant opportunities related to educational technology implementation. Become familiar with advances in educational technology relative to training and support of the K-12 educational community. Participate in the K-12 project team, and other internal coordination groups; contribute to on-going communications between groups and development of procedures for use with both internally at Merit and externally with Merit customers. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters degree in educational technology, instructional design or related field. Experience in instructional design and delivery; experience providing instruction to adult learners in the educational field; ability to relate educational technology to curriculum development; experience using multi-media software such as HyperStudio and relating the use of such software to other technologies in the classroom setting; experience writing and responding to RFPs. DEPARTMENT QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in educational technology or related field; two years experience as a teacher in K-12 or equivalent in training relative to use of the Internet in educational settings including experience with the use and implementation of Internet technology with students in the classroom; two years experience with use of the Internet and associated technology; experience with creation of web pages for educational use; experience with the use of common Internet and computer applications, including electronic mail, FTP, WWW, word-processing, and spreadsheets; ability to work both independently and as a member of a team; ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks; experience being a trusted representative to outside individuals and groups; availability for statewide overnight travel. -- --- Marcia A.
