Dear fellow librarians, I recently decided to make a career change and will be a new = elementary librarian. I am a former classroom teacher (grades 4-8) and = reading specialist (elementary and middle). My new position involves = full time teaching; every class in the school K-5. While I will be = taking the first grad course, Organization and Administration of the = Library Media Center beginning in September, I need practical = suggestions on how to get started. I am very comfortable with reading = aloud and book talking from my experience as reading specialist. I am = more concerned about management of so many children! Learning names, = hints to help with check-out procedures, bulletin boards, ANYTHING to = help me prepare for these uncharted waters. I would appreciate any = suggestions! Especially for the youngest students. Thanks in = advance!!!
