Changing face of school library media centers

Terri's posting is a subject I'm very interested in for many reasons, one
of them being cuts in our district.

I would like to hear from people on the topic of WHY media specialsits are
cut.  I think we need to look deeper than the need to cut operating costs
or  the need for technology and technical support.     Are people or
programs cut because they are not delivering the kind of program needed for
today's learners?    What are your thoughts?
