I don't how the parent volunteer situation is at your school, but at my son's elementary the parent volunteers run the bookfair so the librarian and aide is free to check out books. The librarian always makes sure she appoints someone she knows and trusts to handle all the money. At another school in the county where the volunteer situation is not as good, the librarian announces the times that certain grades can come to the book fair, the other times are reserved for classes and check outs. I hope this helps and good luck on your book fair.
