Thanks to all who sent suggestions. I have compiled the messages into a HIT: I have a list of professional periodicals on my website that may help you : www.tucolib.info. Scrooll down the right column to collection development and click on TCOE professional periodical list. There are 65 teachers in our middle school and, by far, the favorite professional journal is EDUCATIONAL OASIS. The magazine has a plethora of teaching ideas geared to the middle school level. We have had to order a second subscription to meet their needs! If you want a magazine discussing educational issues for the middle school level, try CLEARING HOUSE. Also, if you deal with a jobber for your magazine subscriptions, they will often be able to get you a sample issue of a journal. Definitely NCTE's Language Arts, plus the corresponding journals of the other professional organizations. Hi Judith. I'd suggest the English Journal. Excellent resource of Language Arts/English/ESL teachers! It's published by National Counsel of Teachers of English (NCTE). our Middle School subscribes to Challenge 21.95 good Educational Oasis 21.95 good Multi-Media Schools 39.95 not used as much Learning and Leading with Technology $65.00 not used as much 5th grade teachers have a variety of Mailbox publications.
