I agree completely. Allowing students to select books that they may enjoy is MOST important. I have several special education students who will come to the library and select materials that are much too difficult for their reading level. The students enjoy them for the day and return them on their way out of school. I have offered to help them find a book. They take care with the books and often come back the next day and recommend "Divine Comedy" to a friend! Who knows? Maybe they really ARE reading it...or at least part of it!
