A google search for "What kind of people whence you came?" comes up with
several hits of the complete text of the poem.

The line quoted isn't exactly right. Didn't scan right. Do the search
without the " "s "Well, friend, what sort of people whence you came?"

However, the sites with the poem may not have the level of validity
required. Perhaps further searching with the corrected line and/or the
poet's name, Edwin Markham, would get a more suitable resource.

Or do some searching for a poetry database. Often the contents of the
various databases on line are not searched by the major engines.
Instead, we need to search those resources individually.

The University of Michigan Humanities Text Initiative at
http://www.hti.umich.edu/a/amverse/ may do the job.
Or www.bartleby.com/
Or maybe a largish library.
