Target: French justice system problem

Hello everyone-

 I have a student with a research assignment that I can't help her with.  =
She has been assigned the French justice system.  Now, while she has found =
out the different types of courts in France, she can't seem to find out if =
they are elected, appointed or what  She needs to know length of term or =
appointment and information of that sort.
This is a tough one to solve for our small school.   Any help would be =
greatly appreciated.
