Gen: New York State Fifth Grade Teachers

Hello,
        The New York State Department of Conservation is inviting all fifth
graders to showcase their artistic talent in the 2002 Arbor Day National
Poster Contest.  The theme this year is "Trees are Terrific . . . Inside and
Out".  The NYS winner will have their entry submitted to the National Arbor
Day Poster Contest in Nebraska City, NE scheduled for April 26, 2002.
Contest packets are available by contacting DEC's poster contest
coordinator, Mary Kramarchyk, at 518-402-9412.  Posters need to be submitted
by December 21.

        There were 59,000 fifth grade classrooms that participated in the
2001 contest.  The winning poster for 2001 can be seen on the Arbor Day
Foundation website along with information on the contest in general
www.arborday.org.
