I am very interested in introducing my primary students to various careers by using fiction picture books. I read a book today with a character who was a "florist" and found that most of my primary kids thought a florist puts down floors for a living! I would like to write a grant to get fiction books with various careers in them so I could actually carry on a discussion about what the person does, the tools they need etc. etc. I'm thinking along the lines of Eric Carle's Walter the Baker, and then I go brain dead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Our kids are exposed to very few careers with their military background. I will post a hit if there appears to be interest.
