GEN: Dec. 2001 Weed of the Month

Good morning LM_NETters!

The December 2001 topic for Weed of the Month is: Music and Dance Appreciation.

All your students like music and dance — styles that suit their age and
bring them pleasure and exercise. But do they have an appreciation of
music and dance that will prompt them to continue these activities as
they grow older? Maybe they get that exposure at home, maybe not. Try to
keep your music and dance titles broad and current to encourage a
lifelong interest.

A brief explanation of Weed of the Month for new LM_NET members: The
SUNLINK Weed of the Month began in September, 1997, from an idea
by Mike Eisenberg co-owner of LM_NET, and as an effort to help provide
Florida's School Library Media Specialists with guidelines and
suggestions for weeding their collections a little at a time as well
as adding quality materials. A section of the collection is
identified each month during the school year (September through May)
as a weeding target.
