Greetings to all!
In the past we have had middle school and high school wings of our building with a
media center in each. The middle school students used both media centers for
research projects so that we didn't need to purchase duplicates of expensive
reference and nonfiction materials. The middle school media center was used for
reading development and some research. Our dilemma lies in the fact that we are
building a new facility with one LMC that will house a combined collection. We are
also adding sixth grade to the mix next year. We are already facing the challenge
of young students wanting to use material that was purchased for a more mature
reader.

I know that someone else in this great group has had to grapple with this problem.
How do you have a collection that satisfies the needs of students who read at a
third grade level and sometimes eight year old maturity level and the needs of
students who are reaching adulthood?

Any advice you can share with me will be appreciated.
