We have a boy who has an excuse for everything. His teacher has tried a lot of books with him like The Empty Pot, Boy Who Cried Wolf, etc., to no avail. His excuses are pretty enormous, like he didn't do his homework because he got raped (he's 5th grade self-contained, diagnosed ad/hd). Horrible home life, low-income divorced parents who hate each other, etc. His mom constantly makes excuses for him (he's add, has lots of trouble, etc.) so he's used to dealing with things that way. She's now looking for resources for herself - about lying, the need to lie, how to handle it (ignore it???). Do you guys have any great titles or other resources you could suggest?
