VCR/DVD combo players

We are thinking about putting TV/VCR set-ups in each classroom.  But with the new 
combo players available and the relatively low price it seems a good idea to be 
prepared for the DVD format.  Have any of you used these players.  I am interested 
in learning your reactions - pro and con and specifics about the brands you've used.
