author visit

I have just been told by my principal that I have about $1500 for an =
author visit in this year's budget!  I'm thrilled, but have spent a lot of =
time searching on the internet, contacting colleagues, querying publishers,=
 calling the local university, etc.  So, I need your expertise:  Do you =
know an author who is a great presenter for middle school kids; who lives =
in the New England area, or will be in New England between now and the end =
of May; and who charges about $1000?  My thoughts are: Jerry Spinelli, =
Katherine Paterson, Avi, Mary Downing Hahn, Caroline Cooney, Patricia =
Hermes, Ann Rinaldi, Rodman Philbrick, but I may be way out of the =
ballpark.  If you have contact numbers for an author, that would expedite =
matters, too.  All suggestions are welcome.  Thanks.
