Thanks for the responses. I had several requests for a hit so here it is. Here are the responses I received in addition to the ones I had already = thought of: Gebra Named Al by Wendy Isdell Not Your Average Joe by M.C. Delaney Have you seen a book called Periodic Kingdom:A journey into the land of the chemical elements by P.W. Atkins? It is an enjoyable fantasy journey through the periodic table. There is something about the style that reminds me of The Phantom Tollbooth. 150pp, includes index, bibliography and drawings.Published by Basic Books (div of HarperCollins),l995. 0-465-07265-8 = The LC CIP puts it in 541.24. There is a mystery writer that your teacher will like: Camille Minichino, who writes murder mysteries using the chemical elements in the storyline. She has: The Beryllium Murder The Hydrogen Murder The Lithium Murder The Helium Murder They've gotten pretty good reviews. Try Asimov's Mysteries, a collection of science fiction mysteries, many of = which I recall as being chemistry-based. (the Good Doctor was a biochemist = after all.) The Chemo Kid by Robert Lipsyte - related to cancer too.
