Does anyone know where we can find the definitions of some words used in "Pride and Prejudice"? A student came in yesterday and needed to know the meanings of "shoe-roses" for a ball that were sent by proxy. He also wanted to know about the "white soup" that had to be ready before a social event. We looked in the Jane Austen Encyclopedia and in several standard reference sources, but couldn't find anything that specific. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
