While I'm not going to even attempt to answer this copyright question, I =
do know about a product that may interest Kirsten and others who are =
involved in multimedia or web productions.

In the fall of 1999, I bought a series of copyright free music CDs from =
the Films for the Humanities & Sciences company. It was called the =
Production Music Library and at that time, cost $299.00 plus shipping and =
handling. It has 12 different titles (I believe 14 discs) covering a =
range of topics. They have been so useful for all of our productions and =
take away the copyright worry. The discs are nicely divided with =
different lengths of the same tune, to help make it even easier to get the =
amount of music you want. =20

Here's a listing of the disc titles: Sabor Latino; Hip Hop; Heavy Metal; =
Classical; Funky Soul Jamz; Best Promos; Creation; Cheeze; Chill Out =
Atmospheria; Drones; Drum & Bass; House (dance)

I've never seen a flyer advertising these again after that first one I =
saw, but I would imagine they are still available. I'm interested in more =
discs of copyright free music if any other LM_Netters have some suggestions=
. Our twelve get used all the time.

Subject: Copyright for music question

Hi! We are creating iMovies that will be included on our district web
pages. I have been trying to find out how long we can play a song in
our movie without "getting in trouble". We really want to incorporate
music, but I know we can't use too much of a song. These are videos
that highlight what is happening in our classroom with words and
musical accompaniment.
For example, one class did a disaster unit and made volcanoes and
animated volcanoes using Hyperstudio. We are using the song Volcano
by Jimmy Buffet.<<<
