Greetings: Sorry about the mixup--I keep aol 5.0 on my computer just for communicating with LM_NET, but I forgot and sent the message through on 6.0. I apologize for the duplication. Anyhow... I have been working on a project concerning exit requirements in MLS/MLIS programs around the country this semester. A question occurred to me, and though it's not within the scope of my study, it piqued my curiosity: Who's driving the changes that have occurred in library science education for school librarians over the last few years? Are students asking for and getting more technologically up-to-date programs? Are universities requiring technology competencies and web-searching classes based on their own research about what is required to be a competent school library media coordinator today? Are employers posting different requirements for librarians today than they were 10 years ago? Is it some combination of the above? Am I missing something entirely? Who better to come to than LM_NET? I would appreciate your perspective!
