Target, Tech: System migration

Hello all,
I'm teaching a course in library automation. I would like to hear from
those of you who have migrating or changed over from one automated system
to another. Would you please share your experience with system
migration. The literature does not have much information about the
topic. My main questions are:
1. what process did you follow to migrate from one system to another?
2. what problems did you encounter during the process?
3. what preparation did you do before the migration?
4. what advice would you give to practitioners who are going to migrate,
or are in the process of migrating to a new system.
5. why did you migrate, or will be migrating to new system?
Your feedback about any of these questions is appreciated. Any other
information you provide is also welcome. Thank you.
