Persuasive characters: Heckedy Peg (Audrey Wood)
                                 Lambs for Dinner (Maestro)
                                 Gingerbread Man (that wolf/fox character
again!)
                                  A Flea in the Ear (Wyllie) (another fox!)

My very favorite about persuasion, especially because it also gives a message
that it is very okay to just be yourself, is _the Big Orange Splot_ by Daniel
Pinkwater. A seagull drops a can of orange paint on the roof of Mr.
Plumbean's
home, a home in a neighborhood where every home is alike and everyone likes it
that way. Well, Mr. Plumbean studies that splot and proceeds to change his
home to reflect who he is. Everyone tries to persuade him to repaint and redo
but one by one spends time with Mr. Plumbean and is persuaded instead to
change
his/her own home. The refrain is, "My house is me, and I am it. My house is
where I like to be and it looks like me." It's really a charming book for
elementary kids.

This may not be the one you are thinking of, but how about _Lon Po Po_?
The sisters must persuade the wolf to get into the basket to get the
wonderful fruit, after first convencing him that he wants the fruit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Earring by Judith Viorst is a good one for persuasion.  For out of
print books
The only one that comes to mind is Dr. Seuss'
Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brer Rabbit and Anasia the spider are great traditional tales regarding
persuasion.
Goofd Luck!
