TARGET: Uses for language translation via the internet

Hope you are are ready for and will have a good year.

I volunteered to provide some information for a workshop with our German,=

French and Spanish language teachers. We were talking about the internet
sites that will do translations. The students have found these sites and
use them. I am not sure the teachers involved are aware of these places o=
r
that students are using them for translation homework. For an upcoming
workshop their laison would like to show some of these sites to them.  We=

already have a list of sites.

I would like to target, legitimate uses for these sites. Do any of your
foreign language teachers use these sites with students in any kind of
project. If so, would you ask them to share? A few possibilities that we
brainstormed:

Assign everyone to use the same site with the same text to see if the sit=
e
(or more than one site) give the same translation.
Do a translation in class using the site, then show the common errors.
Do a translation then make an assignment to correct all errors.
Do a translation then require a "rewording" so that is still says the sam=
e
thing.

I am hoping there are some others out there.
