While waiting for my rather slow circulation workstation I began wonderin=
g
if any vendors make a workstation specially for circulation.

I use a high end 486 which is slow, rather than take a pentium out of us=
e
by the students. We are a moderate sized high school so I can get away wi=
th
it. In situation where I have a line, I have students write down name and=

bar code number, then input them when the business slows down. I just can=
't
see taking a multimedia machine to use only for checking books in and out=
.

What do other LM_NETers do? Do you have a station specially formatted for=

circulation (without speakers, cd-rom drive, etc)? Or do you have to use =
a
high end station?

Are there any vendors who sell such a station? This would be similar to
small businesses who use a "point of sale" computer rather than use a lar=
ge
station for sales.

If no one makes such a station, perhaps we can encourage a vendor to fill=

that need.

I will post a hit if there are any responses.
