CATALOGING: Subject Heading question

I normally use Sears for subject headings although some of the commercially
processed materials have come with LC headings.  Anyway, I was trying to add
subject headings to several books for Stamp Act, Navigation Acts,
Intolerable Acts, etc. to assist students who are going to be doing some
research.  I checked the Sears book under the name of the act and also under
United States History.  I can't find any listing.  Any ideas.  TIA
