Question for UK members

I have had my curiosity aroused.  Friends are visiting in London and the
son sent an EMail saying that the  store Marks and Spencer has men's
underwear that is wonderful.  He mocked his sister (who lives in London)
for recommending that he try the underwear, but his EMail said he loves
them and "the Brits sure do know how to make underwear."      I found
the store's web site, but can not bring up men's underwear when
searching the online catalog.  So:
#1. What makes the underwear so great?
#2. What do the British call underwear?  I searched for briefs, boxers,
underwear, personal items and found nothing.
      Thanks a million!  (My friends are apparently not reading EMail
while vacationing!)
