Reading Class Curriculum

Friends -
  The Language Arts Teachers for Grades 7 & 8 at my school are looking for =
materials to help them build a curriculum for a reading class.
  They are looking for curriculum ideas, course descriptions and/or =
objectives for a pass/fail class that would promote reading for enjoyment. =
 They are not looking to use any programs like Accelerated Reader in their =
course.  They are considering doing small units with alternative reading =
materials:  newspapers, comic books, periodicals, the Bible, etc.
  If you have any materials, websites or ideas that might be helpful, and =
are willing to share, please reply to me and I will pass them on to the =
teachers. =20
