TECH: Clearing the documents file on the start toolbar

When you click on the start button (Windows 95 computer), you see the
documents icon  -- moving over to the arrow will show you the last files you
worked on.

How do you clear all those files off? (Where is this file located to be able
to empty it?)


(I am asking this because the younger brother of a student created many,
many "nonsense" files on his computer, which he would now like to get rid
of.)
