Having our first annual "Teddy Bear Festival" and have invited students and
staff to bring their teddys to the library to visit. They may stay a month,
but can go home any time they need to. For the little ones I let them hold
their bears during (of course) the bear stories. Art teacher is making clay
bears, music teacher teaching bear songs, it is a lot of fun.

Today, during activity hear a familiar complaint from a kinder beginning "he
took my yellow crayon.." and turned to them and said, "Please! NOT in front
of the bears!" Total silence. All look around, sheepishly. Then, quiet
coloring.

I think January deserves some kind of "festival" if you're in an elem.
school. Think PIGS or PUPPETS or something fun. One year I invited in all
the giant stuffed animals. What fun! The biggest was a giant black bear
the size of the Dad who carried him in, the scariest was a life like German
Shepherd that terrified the janitor one night.

Will be posting pictures on library web page by the end of next week, come
take a look.
