TECH: Problems with Internet Explorer V. 5.50

Fellow members of EdTech and LM_Net listservs:
      I upgraded to the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer over
the holidays; this was version 5.50.   After that, I could not go to
"secure" sites such as PayPal or my bank's Virtual Bank online or to the
ordering section of amazon.com.  The error message was "page cannot be
displayed."
      I searched online Microsoft's Knowledge Base, and found that this is a
well-known problem. I don't like to mess with the registry, so I'm trying to
solve it by uninstalling the new version and returning to the former version
I used with success.
     Has anyone else had this problem?   Be warned!   You may want to wait
awhile before upgrading.  I don't like having to upgrade before bugs are
worked out in order to learn the newest program version in order to teach it
to others!  I guess that's why trainers get paid the big bucks!( I only wish
it were so.)       Edith
