I know that this is a great group, but
when I experience how quick and generous
you are with your help....well I am once
again impressed!!! Thank each one of you
that contributed. I hope this may be of
use to others.
Here we go...not only are there lists of
search engines, but many sites to
evaluate and rank them!

This is from my web site at

The best one I know is
www.searchenginewatch.com

rating various search engines as well as
an e-mail newsletter that you
can subscribe to.

Kathy Schrock's
(http://school.discovery.com/schrockguid

is very good. It's

main.html
There are lots of other good sites too,
but I liked Deb Flanagan's for a good
over all view.

I have some sites linked from this
address:

ments/Media/eval.html

Another excellent site is "Choosing the
Best Search Engine for your Purpose"
which organizes websites by what you are
looking for. the address is as follows:
http://nuevaschool.org/%7Edebbie/library
/research/adviceengine.html

http://www.foley.gonzaga.edu/search.html
This site provides links to some sites
that have done
comparisons of many of the most popular
search
engines.

This site provides a list of criteria

For your students I'd recommend tools
such as kids click - It also gives
reading levels so staff will find it
valuable too
http://sunsite.berlkely.edu/kidsclick

Classroom Connect magazine has
information about tools in the most
recent
issue that may be of interest.

Kathy Schrock has referenced a lot of
useful stuff research engines at
www.school.discovery.com/schrockguide/yp
/iypsrch.html
I use it frequently to get updated on
search engines.
