As so often happens, the New York Times today had an article on researching family histories online. Do you think their reporters read LM_NET for ideas? :-) They also mentioned: Genealogy.com, www.ellisisland.org (but cautioned your best time for searching it is around 2 a.m.!), http://FamilyHistory.com and http://RootsWeb.com that both have areas where people can share information and/or chat, http://MyTrees.com (costly though at $100/year but free, the Times said, for a few months in exchange for family tree information that you share), http://accessgenealogy.com, http://USGenWeb.com (tombstone information), and http://www.ccharity.com (wills of New World slave owners in 18th & 9th century). The Times also mentioned a website that sounded interested before purchasing any technology, www.compuright.org, that will tell you about fee-charing sites. Thanks, Madeline, for posting these.
