ELEM: Need book like...

I have a teacher who loved Betsy Duffey's Boy in the Doghouse...wants more
chapter books to read to her 1st grade class that "are like The Boy in the
Doghouse"  Does not like Roald Dahl, Beverly Cleary, Magic Tree House, Pee
Wee Scouts, Junie B. Jones...

Any suggestions?  Thanks....and a   B  I  G   Thank You to everyone on this
listserv who has contributed so much to so many!   Struggle through the
end-of-year activities, and have a great summer (probably spending toooooo
many hours in your library media centers!
