Greetings All:
Our Middle School reads across the curriculum. For the past two years, our
7th grade students have been assigned "There's Girl in my Hammerlock" by
Jerry Spinelli to read for PE. We have had many complaints from parents
objecting to a "date rape" (slightly exaggerated, but this is a sensitive
bunch!!) scene in the story, and I have been asked to come up with another
sports-type story (fiction or nonfiction) about a girl who succeeds in a
sport primarily for boys, no sex or necking scenes, if possible. I haven't
one idea. Any suggestions will be enormously appreciated! TIA!
