We also had Dan Gutman visit yesterday in a k-6 school, and I can't rave
about him enough! All the students in our school of over 800 found him to
be inspiring. Teachers also responded with incredible enthusiasm. If you
haven't checked him out do it !

Subject: MID-ELEM: Great Author Visit!

Dear Colleagues,

Several weeks ago my two middle schools (grades 5-6) enjoyed a wonderful
visit from Dan Gutman. I just wanted to pass along our positive
experience for those of you who may be booking authors for the coming
school year. His target grades are 3-5, but he was equally effective
with our 6th graders.

Some of his works include the baseball card series, "Honus and Me,"
"Babe and Me," and "Jackie and Me." These books have many curriculuar
adaptations. In each, the main character goes back to the era in which
the baseball player lived. Other favorites are "The Kid Who Ran for
President," and "The Kid Who Became President." These are funny and
entertaining, but also very meaty and educational. Don't miss "The
Million Shot," and "Virtually Perfect." In nonfiction, our students
enjoyed "Baseball's Biggest Bloopers," and "Baseball's Greatest Games."
And there are many other great titles for this age group.

His web site is www.dangutman.com . All the information you would need
is there.

Have a great summer!
