thanks for your comment Brian. You must know that MANY elementary school teachers tie the relationship together and do their units on that period of American history during November and that was why I suggested it.I'm sorry there are people who believe that the TeePee vision is all that there is. I know in my school we covet the proverbs, the arts, the songs, the folktales, etc, of these people who have had many struggles. I would hope that librarians have their collection full of some of the wonderful cotemporary portrayal non-fiction Native American books too and would present a more universal picture.
