Am following this discussion closely but I just have to ask a few questions because I am a tad confused (after all, I am from DownUnder:>}) 1. Are all the students in your schools white, Anglo-Saxon Protestants? Or Catholic or some other branch of the Christian religion? If not, how do you cater for the creation stories of the Buddhists, the Hindi, the Muslims and so on? 2. If you have titles that explain the beliefs of non-Christian groups, why can't you have books that offer a non-religious viewpoint whether that view be an ethnic one or a scientific one? Or vice-versa? A wise principal once told me that if I am dealing with those sorts of sensitive issues I should preface my remarks with "Christians believe ..." or "Maoris believe ..." and straightaway that depersonalises the issue.
