Anyone have suggestions on how to DIPLOMATICALLY respond to the following questions? -- from an administrator when I asked for funding to get our catalog on-line. "Are we sure that on-line [network] catalogue is the best route??" "If it ever got lost, how would we know what our inventory is??" Other than "well DUH!" I can't seem to think of a response. I had expected more along the line of "Can we afford this?" Is there any library that would not automate if the funds were there? Maybe I'm unique, but I thought that getting the catalog automated & on line was the goal of any library, anywhere.
