The question of whether or not a book is censored if it's not selected = comes up frequently. In my opinion any book that is not selected is = unselected. This realm of unselected materials includes all those = materials that have not been selected, but which materials can be selected = from at other times. This list includes new books, expensive books, books = you wanted to purchase, but didn't have enough money in the budget to = afford, etc. It also includes books that might not ever be selected = because they don't meet the educational needs of your school. On the = other hand, if a book is censored that means an official has made a = decision that a certain book will be censored or banned. If that decision = says for example Catcher in the Rye will not be in our school libraries or = taught in any classes in our school, that means the school librarians and = teachers can not share this book with the students of the school that has = censored the book. However, if Catcher in the Rye has not been selected = for the library collection than it is unselected and could be selected at = a later time. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
