Hit: Barcode Symbology

I posted a question to the list earlier this week regarding the differences
in barcode symbology and how to know which you have by looking at them.  I
received a few replies along with an overwhelming number of people who
requested a results post.

"They give examples and explain the differences of many of the
symbologies.  There must be a couple of hundred different types out in
the world.  Most are used for specific purposes.  For libraries, the
differences probably have more to do with who started what system first
and for what business, but that is just a guess."
