In addition, the participants, as school/district leadership teams, create a plan for their school or district to disseminate what they have learned. The online course is highly-interactive as educators use Internet tools to share ideas with colleagues across the country while they design projects and publish their work on the Web. Each team also has a facilitator to provide guidance during the process (with a 1:6 or better facilitator: participant ratio.) To date, over 300 educators from 22 states have participated since the program was started at Fermilab in 1994. The program focuses on developing projects that promote student investigations on real-world issues using technology to research, collaborate, and publish. Sample projects from past courses are available at: http://www-ed.fnal.gov/lincon/el_proj_examples.shtml Please forward this information to any educators you know that might be interested in participating in this program.
