Good morning, I am a media specialist in a middle school on an emergency certification while completing my MLS. I need to present information about the use of books on tape/audiobooks to improve reading skills and/or encourage reading among middle students, grades 6 - 8, for my current class in late October. I have looked in the archives and found some information about using books on tape. I have also found one book, from 1991 about use with learning disabled students, and some articles from ProQuest and EBSCOhost that suggest that the use of books on tape improves comprehention and encourages reluctant readers to read. I am in need of any specific stud(ies) that have attempted to prove this. If anyone has a suggestion for how to find such, or has a citation I can follow up, please let me know off list. So far I have found article titles, but have not had any luck locating any studies in the references, nor have any studies come up in my searches.
