Hi! I've been having trouble with my e-mail lately, but awhile back someone was looking for slavery books similar to Frederick Douglass. If this has already been answered or I just imagined seeing the message as I can't find it on my e-mail...Sorry! Several interesting titles anyway to pass along. Letters from a Salve Girl: The Story of Harriet Jacobs by Mary E. Lyons. It is historical fiction, but based on HJ's 1861 autobiography. The end also includes some bio facts about HJ. Harriet Jacob's autobiography is called Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. Found it on Amazon and there are several different copies from diffeernt publishers and editors. One may even be her son John Jacob, not sure as all the write-ups in amazon were the same. I haven't read this one, but looking forward to reading it. I also enjoyed To Be a Slave by Julius Lester. I purchased this a couple of years ago when we were vacationing in Atlantic Beach, NC and went to tour and old fort. Great visit! My final book is Jip, His Story by Katherine Paterson. This historical fiction tale takes place in VT during 19th century with the struggle between slave owners and abolitionist.
