-----Original Message----- Our major difference is that I control 99% of the passes given to the library. ----------------------- Teachers at my school can write library passes but a pass from a teacher does not guarantee the kids access to the library. If I have two classes in, or the student doesn't appear to have work to do, or if something else is going on so that I can't supervise them, I send them back to class. When I started here 4 years ago it caused a little resentment on the part of a few teachers-- but they were the ones who expected me to act as a babysitter. When they complained to the principal, he backed me up and I rarely have any problems now. Of course without the principal's support I would still be fighting that battle. ---- Tony Doyle, Librarian Livingston High School, Livingston, CA tdoyle@muhsd.k12.ca.us <Http://www.lhs.muhsd.k12.ca.us/html/lhslibrary/lhslib.htm> "You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture.
