TECH: cd rom drive problems

I finally was able to buy some cd's for our new PCs in the library.  I =
installed them this summer, with a shortcut put on the desktop.  =
Everything worked fine.  Now we cannot get the shortcuts to work.  To =
get the cds to come up, I have to disable Fortress, sometimes restarting =
the computer first, then click on the cd drive in My Computer.  Even =
then, I sometimes can see that the computer doesn't see the drive.  It =
says that D drive isn't accessable.  Any clues on what to do?
